In Chennai, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, a political party floated by actor Vijay, released a six-character pledge urging its members to undertake it.

The party appealed to its cadre to "always cherish the sacrifice of the countless soldiers from Tamil soil who fought tirelessly for the freedom of our country and the rights of our people."

The second pledge appealed to the cadre to "continue to strive to fulfill the goal of war martyrs, who sacrificed their lives to protect our mother Tamil language."

"Belief in the Indian Constitution and sovereignty, unity, brotherhood and religious harmony with all," is the third pledge. 

The party appealed to its cadre to "act as a responsible individual who maintains equality."

The party asked the cadre to "promise to travel on the path of democracy, secularism, social justice and always serve as a public servant to eliminatte differences in the name of caste, religion, gender and place of birth."

The sixth pledge is to "create awareness among people" to "strive for equal opportunities and rights for all and to solemnly promise to uphold the principle of equality for all living beings."
