What has just happeneed? Why in the recent news?
2 youngsters were killed after a speeding Porsche car, allegedly being driven by a 17-and-half-year old boy rammed into a motorcycle in the Yerwada area of Pune in the only hours of Sunday. The Pune Police detained the boy, who sources in the force is from the family of a prominent Pune realtor. According to the Pune Police the deceased have been identified as Aneesh Awadhiya & Ashwini Koshta both 24 and software engineers from Madhya Pradesh who were working in Pune. Aneesh Awadhiya friend Akib Mulla lodged the First Information Report (FIR) copy in connection with Porsche accident at the Yerawada Police Station.
Case registered against the minor.
A case was registered against the car driver at the Yerawada Police Station under various Indian Penal Code Sections, including Section-279, rash driving or riding on a public way, Section-304A, causing death of any person by doing any rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide. Section-337, causing hurt to any person by doing anu act so rashly negligently as to endanger human life or personal safety of others. Section-338 causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others & provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. They said a probe was underway to confirm whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol and his blood sampkles were taken for medical examination. The Police added they were also finding details of the Porsche car and the reason behind the absence of a registration number platte of the vehicle.
What Police said?
According to the Police probe the acused who recently cleared his class 12 board examination went out for a party with his friends at a bar and a pub in the Mundhwa area. where he was suspected to have consumed liquor. After this he headed home in his car. The Police said the boy was driving the Porsche at a high speed & allegedly lost control of the vehicle & rammed into the motorcycle being driven by Aneesh Awadhiya at Kalyani Nagar Junction at 2:30:AM.
A video of the acccident went viral or social media & services said residents thrashed the driver. After receiving information a Police team arrived at the spot & detained the driver for investigation.
Court grants bail
The Police produced the accused before the holiday court in Pune on Sunday afternoon. Pune Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar said Police had urged the court to treat the accused as an adult because this is a heinous crime & sought his custody. But the Court refused & granted bail to the accused said Manoj Patil additional commissioner of Police. Police will approach the sessions court against the bail order, he said. The case is now being investigated by an Assistant Commissioner - Police Officer & a watertight case is being made out, he said. The Police Commissioner said it is clear that the boy was driving under the influence of alcohol. Several eyewitnesses have said the teenager and his friends were heavily drunk.
Boil under conditions
The accused lawyer Prashan Patil said the Court granted bail to his client under certain conditions when asked about the bail conditions, Patil said the court told the accused to work with traffic police of Yerwada for 15 days & write an essay on accident. As per the boil conditions the accused was also directed to undergo the treatment from a doctor to help hi quit drinking and take psychiatric counselling & submit the report to the Court, Patil said. We have complete fourth in the investigation & shall continue to cooperate with the Police agencies. My client is duty bound to follow the stringent conditions of the Honourable High Court. We shall continue to attend the proceedings & wait for the outcome of the investigation said Patil.
In the accident case, the father of the acccused & the bar which served liquor to the Juvenile accused are being proceeded against under Sections 75 & 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act. Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar said in a statement. As per the Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, a person with actual control or charge of a child can be punished if he assaults, abandons or neglects the child wilfully & abuses him, causing mental or physical illness. Section 77 pertains to give liquor or drugx to a child.
Conclusion
The incident has sparked massive outrage with any blaming lax laws for deaths due to rash driving & minors on the wheels. Anurag Kulshrestha President of an NGO that works for road safety told NDTV. There is no fear of law. In Pune where authorities tried to enforce the helmet rule, all political parties came out too protest we are living in an indisciplined society.
